Approved as the "Premium CoCoRaHS Gauge", the TROPO by Climalytic Instruments is a 4-inch diameter, all-weather, professional rain and snow gauge.

Inspired by the original Stratus Rain Gauge, and based on NOAA’s National Weather Service official standard 8” rain gauge (SRG), the TROPO Precipitation Gauge uses the same dual cylinder design to measure rain and snow water equivalent (SWE) to the nearest hundredth of an inch (0.01 in) or fifth of a millimeter (0.2 mm).

The inner cylinder holds 1 inch (25.4 mm) of precipitation, while the extra-large outer cylinder holds another 12.50 inches (317.5 mm) of precipitation making the maximum capacity approximately 13.5” (343 mm). The inner cylinder and locking funnel cap are removable to allow catchment of snowfall or other frozen precipitation, which can then be melted down or weighed to determine a liquid equivalent.

The gauge is made of a premium UV stabilized polycarbonate — the same weather resistant material used to build greenhouses. The TROPO is freeze-resistant if regularly maintained, emptied, and cleaned.
